This Smart Collar Tracks Your Dog's Activity And Monitors His Feelings, Too
The Jagger & Lewis Smart Dog Collar allows you to check your pet's levels of hunger, thirst, pain and distress — all from your smartphone.
Ever wish you could text your dog from work just to see what he's up to? We don't have the technology to do that quite yet, but prepare for the next best thing: A collar attachment that lets you know how your four-legged friend is feeling at any given moment!
It's called the Smart Dog Collar by Jagger & Lewis, and it promises to be a lot more than just a Fitbit for Fido. According to Jagger & Lewis' website, this wearable can sense a change in your dog's mood and notify you of behavioral problems occurring while you're away. Developed in partnership with veterinarians and Intel, the Smart Dog Collar allows you to track your dog's movement as well as his level of hunger, thirst, pain and distress.
It also provides you with an analysis of environmental data and a physical analysis according to your pup's age, weight and breed. All of this is monitored through a free smartphone app, and according to Jagger & Lewis' website FAQ, there's no monthly fee.

Michael Andronico, an associate editor at Tom's Guide, got a pre-market preview of the Jagger & Lewis' Smart Dog Collar. According to his report, the device has an Away Mode (for when you're out of the house), a Guest Mode (for when your dog is with a sitter or at a kennel) and a Challenge Mode complete with "mini-games meant to encourage you to spend quality time with your pet."
It all sounds pretty great, but there's one small catch: The Smart Dog Collar by Jagger & Lewis isn't actually for sale yet. There's a Kickstarter launching Jan. 31, where the collar will be available for $139 (donors are scheduled to receive their collars in May 2017). According to Jagger & Lewis' Facebook page, the official price for the collar outside of the Kickstarter launch is $229.

If all goes according to plan, we'll be keeping track of Fido's feelings in a matter of months. In the meantime, we've found that a wagging tail usually indicates a happy hound.
