Somerset County Announces April Recycling Drop-Off Events
First Saturday of the Month, tire and household waste drop-off events are scheduled for April.

Somerset County has announced its recycling drop-off events for the month of April.
The first of several events is the First Saturday of the Month Drop-off event on April 11 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Somerset County Recycling Center, located at 40 Polhemus Lane in Bridgewater. County officials said the drop-off event will take place on the second Saturday in April due to the holiday.
First Saturday drop-offs enable residents to recycle tires, clean textiles and usual curbside items, or donate food to local food banks. Residents are allowed to dropp of as many as eight tires -- with or without rims, scrap metal, used motor oil, oil filters, antifreeze and usual curbside materials, according to Somerset County.

On April 18, the county is hosting a household hazardous waste drop-off at the Warren Township Public Works Garage, 1 Bardy Road in Warren, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
According to a release from Somerset County, household hazardous waste includes banned or outdated pesticides, antifreeze, transmission fluid, brake fluids, wet-cell car batteries, motor oil (2-gallon maximum), fluorescent tubes and compact fluorescent light bulbs, ammonia-based cleaners, gasoline, kerosene, mercury switches, oil-based paints and more.

Additionally, from Monday, April 20, through Friday, April 24, the Somerset County Division of Solid Waste Management is partnering with the county Road Department to collect old scrap tires. The drop-off will take place at the South County Public Works Garage, 410 Roycefield Road in Hillsborough, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The free tire drop-off is available for residents and farmers, to dispose of unwanted tires. A maximum of eight tires can be dropped off, with or without rims.
