Somerset County: Colorful and Ancient Tales of the Celts, Sept. 28

Somerset County Freeholder Brian D. Levine, human services liaison, invites residents age 60 and above to a special storytelling event being held at Warrenbrook Senior Center, located on the golf course at 500 Warrenville Road, at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 28. Reservations requested by Sept. 24.
Storyteller David Emerson, History on the Hoof, believes that the wit and wisdom, humor and horror, and hubris and humanity of a people can be found in their traditional stories. With his performance of “The Shannachie of Glendunbunn Ballybegg,” Emerson will entertain as he retells (and embroiders) the colorful and ancient tales of Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and Cornwall in his presentation.

This program is funded by the Horizons Speakers Bureau of the New Jersey Council for the Humanities, a state partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
Lunch menus will include a choice of a meat-based entree, vegetarian entree or a boxed lunch option, with and without meat. There is a suggested lunch donation of $2.00 for individuals age 60 and above; the cost of lunch for individuals under age 60 is $6.99.

Operated by the Somerset County Office on Aging and Disability Services, the Warrenbrook Senior Center is a multipurpose facility that offers a variety of educational, recreational and entertaining activities for active older adults, including wellness programs and health screenings. The center is accessible to individuals with disabilities.
Somerset County senior centers offer a wide range of experiences designed for lifelong enrichment in a social and uplifting atmosphere, intended to positively impact overall health. Many of these programs are funded, in part, through the Older Americans Act.
