Somerset Hills Artists on Display at CCA's Members Show

Members show and children's book illustration exhibit open at Center for Contemporary Art in Bedminster through August.

The Center for Contemporary Art in Bedminster now is displaying its annual Members’ Non-Juried Show, a yearly opportunity for the center’s members to exhibit work in any media. Prizes also were awarded for best work, with all of the pieces to be on display through Aug. 30.

This year, 108 members participated, submitting works in painting, pencil and charcoal, pastel, photography, mixed media and sculpture. While the majority of the entries are paintings, the number of ceramic entries is increasing each year, reflecting the center’s popular new ceramics program, said Elie Porter Trubert, Executive Director.

“We are very pleased with the quality and variety of our members’ work this year, and thrilled with the record number of entries on view in our newly renovated galleries," Trubert said of the show, which opened June 21 at the CCA at 202 Burnt Mills Road in Bedminster.

"This exhibit is a tribute to their talent, and to The Center’s faculty of professional teaching artists," Trubert added.

The “Best in Show” award went to Melissa Ross (Lebanon). Susanna Kopchains (Far Hills) and Martin Zlotkin (Bernardsville) were selected for Awards of Excellence, and Honorable Mentions were awared to Francesca Leipzig Picone (Succasunna), Linda Lam(Bridgewater), and Letty Oratowski* (Basking Ridge).
