State Police Still Waiting to ID Chicago Woman Killed in I-78 Crash

Trenton police report says one person was injured in weekend crash in Bedminster.

New Jersey State Police on Monday still were waiting to name a 72-year-old Chicago woman killed on I-78 westbound in Bedminster late Saturday morning when she apparently lost control of her car, hit another vehicle, and then hit a tree.

According to the report, state police still were trying to contact the woman's next of kin after she was killed at the scene of the crash.

A police report issued by the Trenton public information bureau for state police said the woman apparently was heading west and driving a blue Lincoln in the center lane of I-78 near milepost 29 at about 10:50 a.m. on Saturday morning when she lost control of her vehicle for some reason.

State police said her car then struck another vehicle, a black Lexus, that also was headed west, but slightly ahead of the Lincoln in the left lane of highway.

The woman's car hit a grass berm, hit a tree, and overturned, state police said. The woman, alone in the car at the time of the crash, apparently was partially ejected and killed at the accident scene, according to the state police report.
