Summer Hours Starting Up at Bernardsville Borough Hall
Extended hours for residents to stop by borough hall.
The traditional summer hours schedule kicks in at Bernardsville Borough Hall next Monday, giving residents and others seeking borough services extended hours four days a week — and municipal employees some long weekends.
Starting May 21, and continuing through Labor Day, borough hall will be open on Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., said Borough Administrator Ralph Maresca.
On Friday, hours will be the usual 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., he said.

The idea behind the revised schedule, he said, is to give a twofold bonus to those who want to take advantage of the earlier opening and later closing of borough offices — and also to give some long weekends to those borough employees who choose to participate in the voluntary rescheduling.
Under the plan, those who decide to staff borough hall on the longer days can take advantage of then having every other Friday off during the summer, Maresca said.

The schedule, approved this week by the Borough Council, has been in effect for 12 previous summers, said Maresca.
"People do take advantage of it," he noted.
He said that some residents who normally can't make it to borough hall during their work hours can do so during the extended hours. Meanwhile, the construction office is open early, and contractors like to come in for permits so they can start their day, Maresca noted.
Borough Hall is at 166 Mine Brook Road, next to Nervine Pond.
