Woman Steals $325,000 From Somerset County Employer, Police Say

On June 23, a 52-year-old Pennsylvania woman was arrested and charged for the theft of over $325,000 from her former employer.

On June 23, a 52-year-old Pennsylvania woman was arrested and charged for the theft of over $325,000 from her former employer, Bridgewater Community Services.

The company claimed that between Sept. 2013 and Jan. 2015 Younja Devine a.k.a. Jaimie Devine, of Hawley, Pa. deposited fraudulent checks into her personal account during her time as a resident manager for the two senior citizen housing complexes they operate.

“Subsequently, defendant Devine used the names of active vendors utilized by Bridgewater Community Services and submitted fraudulent invoices in the vendor’s name, according to a press release from the Somerset County Prosecutor Office. “After making a check out to the vendor for the fraudulent invoice she would alter the check and have it made out to a consulting company which she owned.”

Bridgewater Community Services reported the crime to Bridgewater Police on Feb. 17.

Devine was charged with Theft, 2nd Degree , Forgery, 3rd Degree and Uttering a Forged Instrument, 3rd Degree.
