2 Car Thefts, 1 Attempted Theft In Bloomfield: Police

One vehicle owner heard his car turn on, then saw three men drive off with it, Bloomfield police said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Bloomfield recently saw two car thefts and an attempted vehicle theft, police announced Thursday.

The Bloomfield Police Department released the following details about each incident:

June 11 – Officers responded to the 400-block of Beardsley Avenue after getting a report about a motor vehicle theft. A resident heard his vehicle turn on, and when he went outside to check on it, he saw three men drive off with it. The vehicle, a black 2019 Hyundai Elantra, was entered as stolen. This incident is under investigation, police said.

June 13 – Officers responded to the 100-block of North 15th Street after getting a report about an attempted motor vehicle theft. A resident parked her vehicle near the residence on June 12. After returning to the vehicle on June 13, she noticed broken glass and damage to the ignition. This incident is under investigation, police said.

June 14 – Officers responded to the 100-block of Washington Street after getting a report about a motor vehicle theft. A resident parked his vehicle in the lot at 1 p.m. and when he returned to the area at approximately 11:30 p.m., he noticed it was missing. The key fob was left inside the vehicle. The vehicle, a black 2016 Volkswagen Jetta, was entered as stolen, police said; an investigation continues.
