BLOOMFIELD, NJ — All Clyde wants is a home to take naps in, someone to feed him and a best friend to hang out with. And the Bloomfield Animal Shelter wants to know if you’re the one that can give it to him.

On Tuesday, the shelter put out an adoption call for Clyde, a senior dog that has been at the shelter since February. Here’s the scoop on this doggo in need, staff wrote:

“We feel so sad for our senior boy Clyde. He has now been at the shelter since February and has only had failed Meet & Greets with other dogs. While he seems to prefer submissive females, it's best we look for a home without other dogs. All this 9-10 yr old wants is a home to take naps in, someone to feed him (major wiggle-butt activated for mealtime), and a best friend to hang out with. While he may be up there in age, he still has some pep in his step and enjoys short walks and yard time. He now has a clean bill of health after a receipt bout of pancreatitis, and waits patiently for someone to adopt him.”

For more information, call the shelter at 973-748-0194 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday, or apply directly online here.

Don’t think you’re a match for Clyde – but still looking to adopt a new canine friend? According to the shelter, they’re in desperate need of someone who can give a home to some of their “dog-selective” residents – many whom have been there for months.

“We are struggling trying to find homes for our longer-term resident dogs – likely because they are dog-selective,” the shelter recently reported.

“The longer a dog remains in the shelter, the less space we have to accept surrendered dogs from residents in need,” staff continued. “We are currently unable to accept most large breed dog surrenders due to our long-term residents, other available dogs, and necessary space for strays. Please consider adopting to help these deserving dogs, along with the future dog in need waiting to be surrendered.”
