Another Major House Fire In Bloomfield: ‘Dangerous, Fast-Moving’
Bloomfield saw its second major house fire in as many days on Wednesday.
BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Bloomfield saw its second major house fire in as many days on Wednesday.
Bloomfield firefighters responded to a fire at a 2.5-story home on the 50-block of Laurel Avenue around 3 p.m.
According to the Bloomfield Fire Department, the blaze originated from a vehicle in the rear of the home and spread to the structure. The house took major damage before the fire was brought under control.

The home’s resident suffered minor injuries and declined medical treatment at the scene. No firefighters were hurt, authorities said.
Fire officials continue to investigate the cause of the blaze.

Bloomfield firefighters received support from the Belleville, Nutley and East Orange fire departments. Mutual aid house coverage was provided by the West Orange, Montclair and Verona fire departments.
Bloomfield Fire Chief Lou Venezia said the flames were “dangerous and fast-moving,” and commended the response of local firefighters and the town’s mutual aid partners.
“We’re fortunate no serious injuries occurred, and my thoughts are with the affected residents as they begin to recover from this devastating event,” Bloomfield Mayor Jenny Mundell said.
The incident was the second major house fire that took place in Bloomfield this week. A fire at a home in Bloomfield injured two residents and a firefighter early Tuesday morning.
