• GIS is helping state and local health agencies monitor flu, measles (statescoop.com) — Bloomfield residents are at the center of a new Essex County GIS project that mapped 2021–2023 flu cases and found hotspots clustered around local train stations. By zeroing in on Bloomfield’s neighborhood-level data, health officials are now timing flu clinics and outreach more precisely and even rethinking which age groups—especially 25- to 30-year-olds—need stronger vaccination reminders.
