Bloomfield Featured In ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ (See Other NJ Filming Locations)

The movie captured footage in 31 municipalities and nine counties across the Garden State. The production spent nearly $2.3 million per day.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — New Jersey saw a “happy” haul from the latest Adam Sandler movie, which shot footage across the state, including Bloomfield.

On Tuesday, the New Jersey Motion Picture and Television Commission announced that “Happy Gilmore 2” spent $152.5 million during its 64 days of filming in the state.

Sandler’s sequel to the beloved comedy classic premiered last month on Netflix, nearly 30 years after the original film. The movie captured footage in 31 municipalities and nine counties across the Garden State. Read More: Adam Sandler Films Movie In NJ: ‘Could Not Have Been Nicer’

Bloomfield made an appearance in the blockbuster movie, with the Forest Hill Field Club providing a setting for one of the film's golf course scenes.

  • The exterior of the Gilmore home was filmed at a private home in Irvington, and the interior was filmed at a private home in Belleville
  • Other golf courses featured in the film included the Essex Golf Center in Roseland, and the Montclair Golf Club in West Orange
  • Footage was captured at Newark Airport, in Verona, the Pleasantdale Chateau in West Orange, and the former Essex County Isolation Hospital in Belleville

The production utilized the state’s Film and Digital Media Tax Credit Program. “Happy Gilmore 2” was the highest qualified spend of any production filmed in New Jersey since the tax program was reinstated in 2018.

The film’s average spend per day was $2.3 million. The production also spent $1.2 million on lodging and $6.4 million on hiring extras.

“Happy Gilmore 2 showcases New Jersey’s exceptional versatility in doubling as a variety of locations,” said Jon Crowley, executive director of the New Jersey Motion Picture and Television Commission.

Meanwhile, Adam Sandler’s production company, Happy Madison Productions, has begun shooting for another new project – teen musical “Don’t Say Good Luck” – which recently filmed in Livingston and other North Jersey locations.

“From golf courses and universities, to airports, beaches, and quintessential suburban neighborhoods, New Jersey has everything a production company desires,” Crowley said. “We look forward to welcoming more and more productions to the Garden State.”
