Bloomfield Public School District Superintendent Salvatore Goncalves also issued a statement about the incident:
“We want to inform you that our high school experienced a lockdown earlier this morning. This action was taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and security of all students and staff. I am pleased to report that everyone is safe, and there is no current threat to the school community. Our district's safety protocols were followed closely, and we worked in collaboration with local law enforcement throughout the situation. I want to thank our staff, students, and first responders for their calm and quick response. We understand that situations like this can be stressful, and we appreciate your support and cooperation.”
The high school has resumed normal activity, but some parents have been asking to pick up their children early. Parents who choose to do this are in the process of picking up the students, authorities said.
