BLOOMFIELD, NJ — The Bloomfield Police Department recently honored the memory of a late dispatcher with a memorial wall in tribute to his service.

Joseph Raimo Jr. died at the age of 46 in September. According to his obituary, he grew up in Bloomfield and worked as a 911 dispatcher in the township for more than 10 years.

Now, the room where he once worked to safeguard his neighbors is adorned with a display in his honor.

Bloomfield police posted the following social media message on Thursday:

“Our Central Communication Dispatch room now proudly displays a memorial wall to honor the life and service of Dispatcher Joe Raimo, badge #1244, EOW 9/16/23. You will forever be remembered! Deputy Chief Peters, Sgt. Petronaci and our wonderful dispatchers had the honor of presenting a framed uniform shirt to Joe’s family. Special thanks to Atlantic Uniform and Red Lion Framing Co. for your generous donation to make this gift possible.”
