Bloomfield Primary Election: See Results For Council, Mayor (UPDATED)

Several candidates are running for at-large seats on the Bloomfield Town Council in 2025.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Bloomfield voters went to the polls on Tuesday to cast ballots in the 2025 primary election.

Democratic and Republican candidates are competing for their party’s nomination. The winners of the primary will face off again in the general election on Nov. 4, which will also include third-party and independent candidates.

In Bloomfield, incumbent mayor Jenny Mundell ran unopposed for the Democratic nomination.

Meanwhile, five Democratic candidates ran for three at-large seats on the Bloomfield Town Council. Monica Charris Tabares, Jill Fischman and Widney Polynice got an endorsement from the Essex County Democratic Committee. Satenik Margaryan and Tracy Toler-Phillips ran on the “Democrats for Change” slate.

There was also a race for an unexpired council term in the 1st Ward, where two Democrats competed for one seat: Rosalee Gonzalez, who got the endorsement of the Essex County Democratic Committee, and Stefanie Santiago, who ran on the Democrats for Change slate.

No Republicans filed to run in the primary races for Bloomfield mayor or town council.

With all districts now reported, Monica Charris Tabares, Jill Fischman and Tracy Toler-Phillips are poised to take the three at-large seats. The results still need to be certified.

Meanwhile, Rosalee Gonzalez has apparently captured the Democratic nomination for the unexpired term in the 1st Ward, results show.

Here are the latest uncertified results, as per the Essex County Clerk's Office:

TOWN COUNCIL AT-LARGE (vote for three, 100% of districts reported)

  • Satenik Margaryan – 2,580 votes (16.32%)
  • Tracy Toler-Phillips – 3,079 votes (19.48%)
  • Monica Charris Tabares – 4,106 votes (25.97%)
  • Jill Fischman – 3,215 votes (20.34%)
  • Widney Polynice – 2,828 votes (17.89%)

TOWN COUNCIL 1ST WARD, UNEXPIRED TERM (vote for one, 100% of districts reported)

  • Rosalee Gonzalez – 982 votes (56.05%)
  • Stefanie Santiago – 770 votes (43.95%)
