Bloomfield Schools Will Get $4M From NJ For Construction Projects

The grants will provide funds for window replacements and the replacement of unit ventilators in the schools' gymnasiums.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A windfall of nearly $4 million in state grant funding is headed Bloomfield’s way to help the local school district pay for construction projects, officials recently announced.

According to the New Jersey Schools Development Authority (SDA), four grants have been greenlighted for the Bloomfield Public School District through its regular operating district grant program.

In total, the district is planning to make $9.86 million in upgrades (see chart below). The SDA grants will pay for $3.94 million of those upgrades, and the district will cover the remaining $5.92 million.

The grants will provide funds for window replacements at Brookdale Elementary School and Berkeley Elementary School. The funds will also pay for replacement of existing unit ventilators in the schools’ gymnasiums.

The grants are part of the $450 million in grant funding announced by the SDA and New Jersey Department of Education in September 2023. Funding for the school construction was made possible through legislation and grant funding from SDA allocations, the agency said.
