BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Chanel came to the Bloomfield Animal Shelter as a stray puppy, covered with skin irritations. Now, the playful pup needs a new home, rescuers say.

Despite hundreds of views on Petfinder, nobody with the right qualifications has taken a serious interest in Chanel since she arrived in Bloomfield, the shelter recently reported.

The adorable doggo may have a checkered past, staff say:

“Chanel was reportedly found as a stray with skin irritations covering her body. The initial story we were told was not that convincing, and we’re happy she is now on the mend and with us. Thanks to an easy medication regimen, her skin is almost 100% healed and she’s in much better spirits.”

Chanel is “very playful” and loves to romp around the yard. She doesn’t seem to mind other dogs, either.

But Chanel may need an adopter who understands her specific needs, rescuers add:

“She’s just a baby at 6-7 months old, likely a Dogo Argentino, and we’re pretty confident she’s deaf. An adopter must understand that she may experience skin allergies in the future that will need attention … We are accepting applications from experienced owners of large breed dogs and/or deaf dogs only.”
