Bloomfield solar campaign endorses Democrats for Change slate

And explicitly opposes another candidate

The Bloomfield Citizens Solar Campaign encourages Bloomfield citizens to vote for the Democrats for Change candidates for the Township Council prior to or on June 10: Satenik Margaryan and Tracy Toler-Phillips for Council At-Large and Stefanie Santiago for First Ward Councilperson.

Jane Califf, BCSC coordinator, explained this decision: “The Bloomfield Township Council needs people who both in word and deed have demonstrated their support of the installation of solar energy on town properties, which these candidates have done. Solar energy saves taxpayer dollars, and it teaches our children via action about the urgent need for all of us to do our part to slow, stop and reverse escalating climate disasters.

“Satenik Margaryan, Tracy Toler-Phillips and Stefanie Santiago are also members, as am I, of the newly formed Bloomfield Sustainability Network. This group is advocating for the strengthening of the town’s active commitment to green initiatives, environmental awareness, flood mitigation, recycling, composting, affordable housing, government transparency and more.”

The BCSC is also urging Bloomfield voters to explicitly NOT vote for Council at Large candidate Jill Fischman. For years, as President of the Board of Education, she opposed all of our efforts to have the BOE take the issue of solar energy seriously. We expect that if elected to the Township Council she would do the same thing.

More information about BCSC’s history and work can be found on Facebook at “Bloomfield Citizens Solar Campaign.”
