Cars, Catalytic Converters Stolen In Bloomfield: Police

Several motor vehicle-related crimes were recently reported in Bloomfield. Here's where they happened, police say.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Several motor vehicle-related crimes were recently reported in Bloomfield, authorities announced Thursday.

The Bloomfield Police Department released the following details about four incidents that took place last week:

Jan. 14 – “Officers responded to the 100-block of Walnut Street on report of a catalytic converter theft. A resident parked his vehicle on the street overnight and when he returned to it the following morning, he heard an unusual noise and noticed the catalytic converter was missing. This incident is under investigation.”

Jan. 15 – “Officers responded to the 200-block of North 16th Street on report of a motor vehicle theft. A resident parked his vehicle on the street overnight and when he returned to it the following morning, he noticed it was missing. Surveillance footage shows two males tamper with the door handle, enter the vehicle and flee the scene. The vehicle, a silver 2019 Honda Accord, was entered as stolen. This incident is under investigation.”

Jan. 17 – “A resident responded to Bloomfield police headquarters to report a catalytic converter theft from the 100 block of Newark Avenue. The resident parked her vehicle on the street overnight and when she returned to it the following morning, she heard an unusual noise and noticed the catalytic converter was missing. This incident is under investigation.”

Jan. 18 – Officers responded to 72 Bloomfield Avenue (Sunoco gas station) on report of a motor vehicle theft. The complainant left his vehicle running and unlocked while he went into the store and shortly after he observed someone driving away with it. The vehicle, a gray 2024 Honda CRV, was entered as stolen. This incident is under investigation.
