Halloween-Themed 5K Run Coming To Bloomfield: 2025 Fall Events

Trials of Miles Racing, in partnership with Bloomfield Township and Essex County, recently announced the first-ever Booooo-mfield 5K, taking place Saturday, Oct. 18. The event brings together families, community members, and runners of all levels for a festive fall morning filled with costumes, coffee, and celebration.

The fun kicks off at 9 a.m. with the Kids Dash (a half-mile sprint for ages 12 and under) followed by the 5K at 9:15 a.m., starting and finishing in front of 23 Skidoo Café. Participants are encouraged to wear their best costumes, bring strollers if they wish, and enjoy a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere.

“Whether you want to walk, jog with friends, or chase your next 5K PR, this race is for you,” said Dave Alfano, Race Director and Watsessing Heights resident. “The Booooo-mfield 5K is about celebrating our community, supporting local businesses, and giving families a fun way to spend a fall morning together.”

Giving Back

Proceeds from the Booooo-mfield 5K will directly benefit two important local groups:

• Friends of Watsessing Park Conservancy, which helps maintain and enhance one of Bloomfield’s most cherished green spaces.
• Bloomfield High School Cross Country & Track and Field teams, supporting student-athletes in their training and competition.

Event Highlights

• When: Saturday, October 18, 2025 — Kids Dash 9:00 a.m. | 5K 9:15 a.m.
• Where: Start/finish at 23 Skidoo Café, Bloomfield, NJ; course through Watsessing Park and surrounding streets
• Distances: Half-mile Kids Dash (12 & under) and a chip-timed 5K (3.1 miles)
• Giveaways: Each participant will receive a commemorative Booooo-mfield 5K + Kids Dash Cartoon cotton-blend t-shirt, a medal or goody bag (kids dash), and tons of free giveaways from local sponsors and vendors.
• Who: Open to all ages and ability levels; costumes and strollers welcome
• Post-Race: Family fun, music, local vendors, and awards — including both race performance and costume prizes.
