Local Park, Traffic Signal Upgrades to Be Celebrated Around Essex County

A new fitness course at Brookdale Park to be unveiled Sept. 18. Plans to upgrade signals in the Oranges and Newark to be announced Sept. 19.

New 18-Station Fitness Course Has Been Completed in Essex County Brookdale Park
On Thursday, Sept. 18 at noon, County Executive DiVincenzo will announce that work to develop a new 18-station fitness course in Essex County Brookdale Park on Watchung Avenue has been completed. The new equipment replaces old apparatus that was removed from the park after it was broken or had become unsafe. This event will be held rain or shine.

Essex County Upgrades Three Intersections Along Park Avenue in Orange, East Orange and Newark
On Friday, Sept. 19, County Executive DiVincenzo will announce that three intersections along Park Avenue in Orange, East Orange and Newark have been upgraded with modern traffic signal equipment. The upgrades are part of two projects that total over $1.1 million and are part of the County’s ongoing initiative to modernize infrastructure, enhance motor vehicle and pedestrian safety, and improve the flow of traffic.

To stress the importance of the upgrades, the County Executive has invited local officials to visit each location with him. Stop one will take place at 11 a.m. at the intersection of Park Avenue and High Street, Orange. Stop two will take place at noon at the intersection of Park Avenue and Glenwood Avenue, East Orange. Stop three will take place at 1 p.m. at the intersection of Park Avenue and Fourth Street, Newark.
