Man Tries To Steal Car From Bloomfield Dealership: Police

Bloomfield police responded to three stolen vehicle incidents in a two-day span last week, authorities said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Bloomfield police responded to three stolen vehicle incidents in a two-day span last week, including an attempted theft at a local car dealership, authorities announced Tuesday.

The Bloomfield Police Department released the following details about each incident:

Feb. 4 – Officers responded to the area of Floyd Avenue and LaFrance Avenue after getting a report about a motor vehicle theft. A resident parked her vehicle on the street on Jan. 29 and when she returned on Feb. 2, she noticed it was missing. The vehicle, a white 2023 Nissan Rogue, was entered as stolen. This incident is under investigation, police said.

Feb. 5 – Officers responded to the area of Walnut Street after getting a report about a motor vehicle theft. A resident parked his vehicle in front of his residence overnight and when he returned the following morning, it was missing. The vehicle, a black 2019 Honda Accord, was entered as stolen. This incident is under investigation, police said.

Feb. 5 – Officers responded to 425 Bloomfield Avenue (Bloomfield BMW) after getting a report about an attempted motor vehicle theft. A Bloomfield BMW employee was changing license plates on a number of vehicles, when a man entered the driver’s seat of a vehicle that was left parked and running. Using the key fob, the employee quickly disabled the vehicle as the suspect attempted to take it. Officers arrived and placed the suspect under arrest. The suspect – later identified as Nathan Holmes, 43, of Jersey City – was transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters and processed accordingly, police said.
