National Cheesecake Day Saturday in Bloomfield

Anthony's Cheesecake Offering Free Bites Beginning at 10 a.m.

Anthony’s Cheesecake will be celebrating National Cheesecake Day Saturday in a big way – by giving away free cheesecake bites.
The café, at 71 Washington St. in Bloomfield, will be handing out the bites between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. as well as giving out a free cheesecake every hour between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
“Having National Cheesecake Day celebrated in the middle of the summer does seem a bit unusual, but we knew we had to do something and wanted to make the best of it,” said Anthony Lauro, co-owner of Anthony's Cheesecake. “We came up with the idea of making cheesecake bites and believe customers will love having a cool, decadent treat on a hot summer day.”
Anthony’s Cheesecake, owned by Phil Byrne and Lauro, opened in 2010. The café doesn’t only serve cheesecake, however. A breakfast and lunch menu – along with daily specials – are also available.
Lauro, who is also the co-owner of Lunchbox Deli in Bloomfield, learned how to make cheesecake from his mother and grandmother and uses their recipes to this day.
“We just want to have a lot of fun with this event by offering a little something sweet to new and existing customers,” Byrne said.
“We look forward to meeting many new friends on July 30 and hope they will become fans of our cheesecake and other delicious menu items,” he added.
