Seizures Haven’t Slowed Bloomfield Dog’s ‘Zest For Life,’ Shelter Says
The quest to find a home for a "sweet boy" with a history of epilepsy continues in Bloomfield.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — The quest to find a home for a dog with a history of epilepsy continues in Bloomfield, according to a local animal shelter.
Last week, the Bloomfield Animal Shelter said it is searching for an adopter, a long-term foster home or a rescue situation for “Borys,” an 8-year-old Belgian Malinois who was found as a stray and surrendered to the shelter by his owner.

“Sadly, he came to us with multiple health issues, but we are determined to make sure his remaining time is spent in a comfortable home vs the shelter,” staff announced in a social media post.
There are two things to know about Borys before you reach out, the shelter said:

MEDICAL – “Borys came to us with a known history of epilepsy, causing multiple seizures in his lifetime, and loss of most vision in both eyes. According to his owner, he was not given prescription medication for this for the last several years. Furthermore, our veterinarian diagnosed him with Lyme Disease. He is now on a proper medication regimen, which we hope will lessen the frequency of his seizures.”
TEMPERMENT – “Despite his medical issues, he is a sweet boy who prefers being with people vs alone in the cage. He still displays a zest for life and doesn’t appear to be suffering. However, he is beyond confused here, sometimes injuring himself on the cage because of his vision loss, and we can’t help but wonder if we are making the right decision for him. We are hopeful there is a caring person out there who is experienced with older animals with medical concerns, that will take on his needs in a comfortable home.”
Despite a swell of interest and a bunch of shares on social media, the hard-luck doggo is still in search of a home, the shelter reported Monday.
