Havdalah Cafe: Billy Jonas & The Billy Jonas Band

  • Saturday, November 1 at 7:30 p.m.
  • “Throw out the rules when Billy Jonas hits the stage, it’s a musical conversation, a sonic celebration, and a gathering of old & young!”
  • Cost of Admission: $25 / Children pre Bar/Bat Mitzvah: $10

Jews Needed, But Need Not Apply: Jews and Anti-Semitism in the Hungarian Film Industry in the 1930s and 40s

  • Monday, November 3 at 7:00 p.m. at Temple Ner Tamid
  • David Frey of the United States Military Academy in West Point will discuss the critical role Jews played in the development of the sound film industry in Hungary during the 1930s. Frey will also cover how Hungarian authorities subsequently attempted to remove Jewish Hungarians from employment in the industry.

Shoresh Holiday Gift Sale

  • Sunday, November 16 at 9:00 a.m.
  • Come and do your holiday shopping and listen to the music of the TNT Ramblers.
  • Vendors include: Judaica supplies and toys, homemade gifts, women’s and children’s clothing, skin and beauty products, children’s books, housewares, and more.
  • There will also be a bake sale in the lobby

A new learning environment offering a variety of opportunities that you can select based on your interest on that given day. On each of the Sundays listed below we’ll offer a class in each of the following themed tracks:

  • Jewish Boot Camp – Want to boost your Jewish literacy? Give it a try!
  • Movement & Meditation – Feel a little stressed? Get in some yoga time!
  • Culture & Current Issues – How about a cooking class? A discussion on parenting or interfaith issue? Come sit in on a session!

J-Lab begins immediately after tefillah. Have a nosh, chat with friends, then choose a class.

Lunch with the Rabbi

  • Tuesday, November 18 at 12:00 pm, cost of the event is $18 - includes cost of the book
  • Join Rabbi Kushner on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, October through June, at Ner Tamid for a guided reading and discussion of Ruth Calderon’s book A Bride for One Night: Talmud Tales. Calderon, a Talmud scholar, was recently elected to Israel’s Knesset. She electrified Israel and the Jewish world by teaching Talmud in the Israeli Parliament.
  • All are invited to bring their own dairy or parve lunch and appetite for discussion the book book.
  • Upcoming Dates are as follows: December 9; January 13; February 10; March 10; April 14; May 12; June 9
