JACKSON, NJ — A live-in nanny has been charged after she was seen on video shaking and tossing a family's 7-week-old twins, Jackson police said.

Trudy Osborne, 59, has been charged with two counts of fourth-degree child abuse in the March 26 incident, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said Monday.

The infant girls were taken first to their family's pediatrician and then to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for further observation, authorities said. The prosecutor's office said doctors determined through CT scans that the babies were not injured.

The father of the children called police about 12:30 p.m. on March 26 and said his wife had seen Osborne "shaking, tossing and improperly handling" the couple's 7-week-old twins, with the incident captured on the home's video surveillance, Jackson police said.

The father had called police from the pediatrician's office; detectives from Jackson and the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office met with the parents at Jersey Shore, where the parents showed them the video of Osborne shaking the babies, police said.
