2 Children Led Police On Stolen Car Chase Ending In 3-Car Crackup With Critical Injuries, Prosecutor Says

The crash occurred when the stolen vehicle ran a red light, hit a vehicle, then hit a traffic pole during a police chase, prosecutors said.

EWING, NJ — Two minors are facing multiple charges, and another minor is in critical condition following a three-vehicle crash that involved a stolen vehicle and a police chase on Friday, Mercer County Prosecutor's Office Assistant Prosecutor Daniel Opatut told Patch.

At 6:42 p.m. on Friday, Opatut said a stolen vehicle was traveling north on Prospect Street at the intersection of Parkway Avenue when police tried to stop the vehicle using their overhead lights.

After trying to stop the driver, authorities said the stolen vehicle eluded police “at a high rate of speed and in a reckless manner,” which resulted in the stolen vehicle disregarding a red light, hitting another vehicle and then hitting a traffic light pole.
