Police Still Not Identifying Brick Man Found Dead in Parked Car

Man died of natural causes in car parked in Stop & Shop plaza on Bridge Avenue in Point Pleasant Borough

Police are still not releasing the name of the 61-year-old Brick man who was found dead in his car parked outside the Rite Aid drug store in the Stop & Shop Plaza on Bridge Avenue in Point Pleasant Borough.

The man died of natural causes possibly as early as Tuesday, two days before a passerby reported to police on Thursday that he was slumped over the wheel of his car parked in the lot, police said.

Police were called at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday by a driver who pulled into the parking space next to the man in the car, police said.

"Initial responding officers attempted to provide aid but discovered the 61- year-old victim was deceased," according to a prepared statement released by Lt. Adam Picca. "Through the initial investigation, it was discovered that the vehicle had been in the lot since Tuesday evening.  There was nothing discovered on-scene of a suspicious nature. "

The body was  taken to Community Medical Center, in Toms River, for an autopsy.

The investigation is continuing pending results of the autopsy, the statement says.
