12 Essex County Teens Accepted To Prestigious Military Academies
These Essex County students will be attending some of the most prestigious military academies in the nation, Rep. Mikie Sherrill announced.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Several ambitious teens from Essex County will be attending one of the most prestigious military academies in the nation, U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill announced Tuesday.
Sherrill – a former U.S. Navy helicopter pilot – congratulated 24 students from the state’s 11th congressional district, which includes several municipalities in Essex, Morris and Passaic counties.
The students will begin their education and service careers this year at the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Military Academy (West Point), the U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and their associated preparatory schools and programs.

The list included several students from Essex County:
- Alexandra Richard, Bloomfield – U.S. Naval Academy
- John Bettenbender, Glen Ridge – Air Force Falcon Foundation Scholarship
- Daniel Lee, Livingston – U.S. Military Academy
- Yael Ben-Adi, Maplewood – U.S. Military Academy
- Max Coey, Maplewood – U.S. Military Academy
- Enzo Gurijala, Millburn – U.S. Military Academy
- Andrew Zhang, Millburn – U.S. Military Academy
- Troy Dibble, Montclair – U.S. Naval Academy
- Lincoln Hedberg, Montclair– U.S. Naval Academy
- Margaret Hedberg, Montclair – U.S. Naval Academy
- Alberto Grossetti, Nutley – U.S. Naval Academy
- Isabella Sun, Roseland – U.S. Air Force Academy
“I am so proud of all the young men and women from NJ-11 who are reporting to the military academies or academy preparatory programs this summer,” the congresswoman said.
