Astorino, Fost Take Oaths of Office

Councilman Frank Astorino and Councilwoman Patty Fost took the oath of office for their second terms on the North Caldwell Council Wednesday during the 2013 Reorganization Meeting. 

The Hon. Donald O'Connor administered the oath of office to Astorino and Fost with their family members at their side. Both Republicans, Astorino and Fost ran unopposed in the November election.

During her brief remarks, Fost said at her first swearing in three years ago she referred to herself as a rookie looking for some "beginner's luck." 

"After three years in elected office," she said Wednesday night, "we've faced rising costs, decreased municipal funding, tragic events, unprecedented natural disasters and coyote, deer and bear. Hope for a lucky break was quickly replaced with hard work, tough decisions and experience."

Astorino followed Fost's remarks by saying, "Having an event like this always reminds me of what an honor and a privilege it is to serve. It's in the spirit of serving that I pledge the next three years to the town of North Caldwell.

The councilman said in his next term he hopes to continue to enhance communication with residents and to make sure the town is financially fit by acting with responsibility, transparency and accountability. 

Following the swearing in ceremonies, the council unanimously elected Jim Campbell to serve another year as Council President.
