Caldwell Police Bust Residents for Underage Drinking, Seek Witnesses in Related Crime

Two Caldwell residents, ages 19 and 20, were charged with providing alcohol to underage drinkers at an apartment party.

Caldwell Police are seeking information on who may have vandalized two police cars while officers were in the process of arresting two Caldwell residents on charges they made alcohol available to individuals under age 21.

Corey Curran, 19, and Robert Hildebrandt, 20, were arrested Dec. 21 after police responded to a noise complaint shortly before 2 a.m. and found a raucous party at an apartment on Roseland Avenue. At the apartment, the officers found alcoholic beverages were being provided to people under the legal age of 21.

“While officers were on scene investigating this incident, two Caldwell Police Department vehicles were damaged while parked on Roseland Avenue,” Caldwell Police Chief James H. Bongiorno said.

“We ask if anyone witnessed the vehicles being damaged or has any information as to who may have damaged the police vehicles to please contact the Caldwell Police Department Detective Bureau at (973) 226-2602,” Bongiorno said. “We thank you in advance for any information you can share as this incident still under investigation.”

Curran and Hildebrandt were charged with making alcoholic beverages available to persons under the legal age of 21; making property available for the consumption of alcohol by persons under the legal age of 21 and noise ordinance violations.
