Caldwell Police Run ‘Active Shooter’ Drill At Middle School
The training was held at Grover Cleveland Middle School, which gave officers a realistic setting that they might encounter on the job.
CALDWELL, NJ — Officers with the Caldwell Police Department recently got a dose of what it would be like to respond to an “active shooter” situation during a training drill at Grover Cleveland Middle School.
The CPD gave some details about the exercise and its purpose in a post on social media:
“During the week of August 21, all officers of the Caldwell Police Department participated in the agency’s annual Active Shooter Response training. This year’s training was conducted at the Grover Cleveland Middle School, which gave our officers a realistic setting that they might encounter in a real critical situation. Officers were placed in high-stress scenarios utilizing non-lethal training weapons and ammunition that had been provided to the department by the Caldwell Police Foundation. Training consisted of breaching techniques, hallway movement and room entries.”
“The Caldwell Police Department would like to thank Principal John Bertollo and the Caldwell- West Caldwell Board of Education for allowing us to use the middle school for training,” authorities added.
