Caldwell University's Caswell Wins CACC Player Of The Year

The Caldwell University women's basketball senior forward leads NCAA Division II with 22 double-doubles this season.

Caldwell University women’s basketball player, Emily Caswell, was named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Year, the conference announced today.

Caswell, who is leading the NCAA Division II in double-doubles this season, is averaging 20.8 points and 13.9 rebounds per game for the Caldwell University Cougars this year, the university said. Caswell ranks second nationally in rebounding and 12th in scoring. She has won the CACC Player of the Week award twice and ECAC Player of the Week three times.

Caswell, a senior studying criminal justice, was recently named a Capital One Academic All-American. She has made the Dean’s List four times and was selected as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Student-Athlete of the Month for November. Additionally, Caswell was this year’s Caldwell University recipient of the New Jersey Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (NJAIAW) Woman of the Year Award, the university said.

According to Caldwell University, Caswell is the sixth Caldwell player to be named CACC Women’s Basketball Player of the Year, joining Danielle Ciresi (1991), Monica Snook (1993), Nicole Campbell (1996), Antrinette Barrino (2000, 2002) and Jeanette Anderson (2014). Caldwell is the first school to have consecutive CACC Players of the Year since Holy Family had a player win the award from 2007 to 2009.
