Caldwells to Complete Water Main Replacement This Summer
'This is a long time coming,' said Mayor Ann Dassing.

Caldwell will continue to update its antiquated water mains this summer.
Construction in The Cedars section of the borought to replace below-street water mains will begin within the next two months. On Tuesday, the Caldwell Council bonded an additional $570,000 for the project due to cost overruns to complete the improvement of the borough’s water system which began last year.
“This is a long time coming,” said Mayor Ann Dassing. “It will really increase the safety of the residents there.”

The borough began replacing its water mains last year on Brookside Avenue. The overall project will cost about $1.5 million. While crews replace water mains in The Cedars this summer, additional crews will repave Brookside Avenue, said Carelli.
The council could not estimate when the construction will be completed in The Cedars.
