Cut-A-Thon to Raise Money for Cystic Fibrosis

The hair salon Elite Hair Team will donate all funds raised Sunday to a local team walking in the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Great Strides on June 6.

A local business is joining the fight to end cystic fibrosis.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's largest national fundraiser Great Strides will come to Grover Cleveland Park for a second year in a row on June 6. But this Sunday, Elite Hair Team, at 470 Bloomfield Ave., will be having a cut-a-thon from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the salon to raise money for a local team walking in the event.

The salon will charge $20 for haircuts on Sunday and also have a bake sale to help raise more money.

All the proceeds will be donated to a team walking in the event at Grover Cleveland Park on June 6. Local residents Jeanne and Gregory Courtright, whose sons Matthew and Mitchell were both diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis about three years ago, will be raising funds for a fourth year for Great Strides. During the last three years, the team has raised nearly $28,000.
