Caldwell Fire Dept. Rib-Eating Contest

Nine firefighters and an EMT will compete next Saturday in the Caldwell Volunteer Fire Department’s first annual rib-eating contest. 


The contest, organized in conjunction with Hog Wild BBQ in Caldwell, will take place on Saturday, Oct. 13, on the municipal parking deck on the corner of Bloomfield and Roseland avenues.


Fire departments from Caldwell, Cedar Grove, Essex Fells, Fairfield, Livingston, North Caldwell, Roseland, West Caldwell and Verona will be represented, as well as the West Essex First Aid Squad.

The community is invited from noon to 4 p.m. to enjoy barbecue and hang out at the beer garden, with the competition kicking off at 2 p.m.


In addition to food and a deejay, there will be information about fire safety, face painting, a clown and corn hole games.
