Grover Cleveland Middle School Names December Students of the Month

Hailey Barnett, Thomas Tobin and Alexa DeFuria have been named the Grover Cleveland Middle School December Students of the Month.

“Hailey is a mature, responsible and confident young woman who is always striving to do her best,” her sixth grade teachers said. “She is a leader, good role model and is well respected by the GCMS community. She brings out the best in others, is always thinking outside the box and has the drive to establish her own individual style.”

“Thomas is a courteous and dedicated student,” said Spanish teacher Maritza Viera-Ferrer said of the seventh grader. “He demonstrates enthusiasm for learning and has shared his artistic talent with the class by creating graphic images to match some of our vocabulary. It is a pleasure to have Thomas in class.”

“Alexa is incredibly hard working and diligent with her work,” Eight grade teacher Gina Doane stated. “I really feel like her desire to learn is what drives her instead of what a teacher is assigning, which is really quite mature for an eighth grader. Alexa is polite and always enters the room with a hello.”

To be nominated as Student of the Month, students must achieve academic success, exhibit appropriate behavior, possess a positive and friendly attitude, be genuine in that they are understanding, honest, and caring, and be a creative thinker.
