'Hazardous Weather Outlook' In The Caldwells: See Local Forecast For The Week

CALDWELLS, NJ — The good news? Weather in the Caldwells is expected to cool down a little bit after a recent heat wave. The bad news? It’s going to be a soggy week, forecasters say.

A hazardous weather outlook was issued for northeast New Jersey and southeast New York on Monday morning, with the National Weather Service (NWS) warning of possible thunderstorms and flash flooding.

Here’s the local forecast for the Caldwell area this week, as per the NWS:

Monday: A chance of showers before 11am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11am and 2pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 86. South wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Monday Night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 8pm, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms between 8pm and 11pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 73. South wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tuesday: A slight chance of showers before 11am, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11am and 2pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly sunny, with a high near 90. Heat index values as high as 98. West wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Tuesday Night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 8pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 8pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Wednesday: A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 86. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
