Local Seventh Graders Win Chess Tournament

Grover Cleveland Middle School students Ashvin Nagarajan and Alex Rosa took home the gold in Essex County's Team Chess Tournament last month.
The seventh graders from the Caldwell-West Caldwell school accumulated more points than any other teams in the tournament.
Thirty-eight teams of sixth and seventh grade in gifted programs from Caldwell-West Caldwell, Essex Fells, North Caldwell, Livingston, Bloomfield and Irvington participated in the event.

The tournament was sponsored by the Essex County Steering Committee for Gifted Education.
The tournament was held at Harrison School in West Caldwell. Teams were awarded medals for first, second and third place.
