Caldwell Man Pleads Guilty to Racketeering Conspiracy
Louis Fazzini admits to being a "made" member of the North Jersey crew of the Philadelphia La Cosa Nostra Family, U.S. District Attorney says.
A Caldwell man pleaded guilty to racketeering charges Friday, admitting he was involved in illegal gambling and received health benefits through a “no show” job as a “made” member of a Philadelphia mob family.
Louis Fazzini, 45, said as a “made” member of the North Jersey crew of the Philadelphia La Cosa Nostra (LCN) Family, he operated a sports bookmaking business, the U.S. District Attorney’s Office in Eastern Pennsylvania stated in a release.
At a plea hearing before U.S. District Judge Eduardo C. Robreno in Pennsylvania, Fazzini said he devised a fraudulent scheme to obtain health benefits through a “no show” job controlled by the LCN.

As a “no-show” employee, Fazzini would perform no work or productive services while still receiving health benefits, according to U.S. District Attorney Zane David Memeger.
Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 17, 2013.

Fazzini was among 14 members and associates of the Philadelphia LCN Family charged with crimes involving racketeering conspiracy, extortion, loan sharking, illegal gambling, witness tampering, and theft from an employee benefit plan.
Fazzini was arrested in April in Newark.
