Memorial Day Weekend, WC Council Meeting, District Technology Forum, Historical Lectures and More

The North Caldwell Planning Board will meet Monday at 7:30 p.m. at borough hall, at 141 Gould Ave.

The West Caldwell Township Council will meet Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. at town hall, located at 30 Clinton Road.

Historian Phil Jaeger will offer a lecture on television pioneer Allen B. Du Mont on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the West Caldwell Public Library, at 30 Clinton Road. To register for this free lecture, click here 

Du Mont was an electrical engineer and inventor who developed a durable cathode ray tube in 1931 in the garage laboratory of his Cedar Grove home. This invention led to Du Mont selling America's first television sets in the late 1930s.

The Caldwells Rotary Club will meet Tuesday at 12:15 p.m. at Cloverleaf Tavern, at 395 Bloomfield Ave., for its weekly luncheon meeting. All are welcome. 

West Essex High School will have an early dismissal Wednesday for district staff development seminars. 

Schools Superintendent James Heinegg will hold a public meeting Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Board of Education conference room at Harrison School, 104 Gray St., about how technology can be better utilized in the district. Heinegg is asking for public input on what direction the district should go regarding technology. The newly appointed district Supervisor of Technology DonMarkese will also attend the meeting.  

Warren Marchioni, a member of the Board of the Grover Cleveland Park Conservancy and a former science teacher, will lead a lecture on The Natural History of Grover Cleveland Park starting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Caldwell Library, at 268 Bloomfield Ave. This discussion is free and open to the public. Freshly-baked refreshments will be provided.

The Kiwanis Club of Caldwells-West Essex will meet at noon on Thursday at Cloverleaf Tavern, 395 Bloomfield Ave., for its weekly luncheon meeting. All are welcome. 

Friday will begin Memorial Day weekend, and there will be no school for students attending Caldwell-West Caldwell schools and West Essex High School.
