New Director for Roseland Free Public Library

Michael Pucci, former Head of Circulation and Communications at South Orange Public Library, now leads the Roseland Free Public Library.

The Roseland Free Public Library welcomes Michael Pucci as its new director.

"I am honored to be Roseland Public Library's new director. I know the integral role a beloved library plays in a small town like Roseland, and I am excited to work alongside a staff that has served as a friendly, dedicated presence in this community for many years,” he says.

Pucci comes from the South Orange Public Library, where he served as Head of Circulation and Communications for 18 years. He earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 2004 and a master's degree in library science from Rutgers University in 2008.

“Michael brings a wealth of knowledge from his long tenure at the South Orange Library. We’re looking forward to the energy and fresh ideas he’ll bring to our community,” says Saumita Lepre, president of the Roseland Free Public Library Board of Trustees. “We’re thrilled to have him on board and can’t wait to see how the library grows under his leadership.

In addition to his new post at the Roseland Free Public Library, Pucci also works as a book reviewer for Library Journal. His library interests have mainly focused on collection development and communications.

Pucci, who has lived in Essex County for most of his life, currently resides in Bloomfield with his family. Outside of the library, he enjoys reading, rooting for the Yankees and Tar Heels, playing backgammon, and making silly faces with his 2-year-old daughter.

He also looks forward to getting acquainted with the patrons of the Roseland Free Public Library and encourages community members to visit the library and say hello.

“Providing a free and open space to explore creativity, engage with neighbors, and access information has never been more important, and I look forward to ensuring that everyone feels welcome to take advantage of all the library offers," he says.
