Caldwell Students Soar into the New School Year

The first days of the school year included new back packs, block scheduling, and joyful reunions between teachers and students after the end of a long summer. “Our beloved West Essex student body, returned to campus and successfully navigated the flexible rotating drop schedule for the first time,” West Essex High School Principal Gary Suda said. “Both students and staff enjoyed our first unit lunch, which empowers students to select a location to eat, visit the Library, talk with their Guidance Counselor, and utilize our computer labs, all within 52 minutes.”

Students at WEHS encountered several new changes when they stepped inside the building this year. Rather than lugging heavy books and binders around all day, students will have the chance to make more frequent trips to their lockers this year, and will be using new cinch sacks, provided by the school, to carry their books and supplies between classes. The school also implemented block scheduling this year.

“With the new block scheduling at West Essex High School all students in the school enjoy lunch together for the first time on Thursday,” Allison Freeman, Manager of Communications for West Essex Regional Schools said. “Students can eat in the two cafeterias, a gymnasium or outside.”
