Kindergarteners Show Off Artwork
Students in First Presbyterian enrichment class learned about famous artists and created their own galleries.
They may be pint-sized, but the kindergarten enrichment students at the First Presbyterian Church Weekday Preschool, showed that they know their art.
The students took part in an art show for parents that focused on famous artists throughout history. The students studied such masters as Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet, and Jackson Pollack.
For example, they learned that Pollack required lots of paint and just the right wrist action to create his colorful creations. Monet was inspired by nature and used water colors and Van Gogh used different textures and painting techniques.

The students attend public kindergarten in the Caldwell/West Caldwell School District, which is a half-day program, and then attend the enrichment program at the nursery school on weekday afternoons.
The class is taught by Kathleen Carlson and Joy Garden. The children learned about the artists and then created their own works of art inspired by the famous masters.
