Preschool Offers Nurturing Environment for Kids, Learning Experience for WEHS Students

The preschool program at West Essex High School, for kids ages 3 to 5, offers high school students the opportunity to work with kids.

West Essex High School offers a Preschool program, open to children ages 3-5, which provides children with the skills to enhance their social, emotional, physical and cognitive development and also gives high school students the experience of working with and observing young children. An open house has been scheduled for from 9:45 to 10:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24 in Room 102.

The West Essex High School Preschool Program currently has openings for five or more children in a program. Children must be potty-trained. The program runs from Oct. 8, 2014 to May 8, 2015 from 8 to 10:40 a.m.
The cost for the program is $260 for the school year.

“The purpose of the program is to provide each child with the best possible learning environment, one that is safe, caring and fun,” West Essex High School Child Development Teacher Judith Crawford said. “The goal of the program is to help each child reach their individual learning potential.”

Activities planned include arts and crafts, music and dance, story time, school library, nature and science, free play and learning readiness, Crawford added.

The high school students, who enrolled in the child development class, “master proficiency to guide and teach children ages 3 to 5,” by working with and observing the children.
