Road Work In Caldwell Will Impact Traffic (What To Know)

There will be milling and paving in Caldwell starting on April 29.

CALDWELL, NJ — Road construction is scheduled to kick off in Caldwell on Monday, April 29.

According to an advisory from the Caldwell Police Department, milling and paving work will begin at the intersection of Bloomfield Avenue and Personette Street and continue up to Orchard Square. Here’s what to know, officials said:

“During the milling work, scheduled first, your road(s) will be closed to thru traffic but open to emergency vehicles. Each roadway should take less than one day to complete, and traffic will be allowed upon completion that evening. Extreme caution must be used when driving through the milling work zones. Once milling is complete on all the streets in the project, paving will begin on your roadway. During the work, sections of your road will be entirely closed and inaccessible for periods of time. No vehicles can be parked on the street during this operation.”

“We ask that you limit the amount of travel required for a 24-hour period after paving, so your roadway has the best opportunity to succeed. In all, paving on your road should take one day to complete and one day to cure … There will be temporary signage with timeframe when parking restrictions will be in effect and the Caldwell Police Department will oversee all traffic control. Please note that any inclement weather or unforeseen conditions may cause delays to this schedule. If a schedule change occurs, you will be advised by an additional notice from the contractor.”

“After milling and paving, the last step of striping takes one day, and will be scheduled and communicated to affected residents,” authorities added.
