Roseland Library to Host Children's Author & Book Fair
Meet 15 different authors and enjoy a variety of activities including face painting!

- Kids’ activities at author’s tables
- Story times & additional activities (Children’s Area)
- Prize drawings (guess how many bookworms in the jar!)
- Face Painting by Clowning Around (11:30 am-1 pm)
- Musical performances (starting at 12:15 pm)
- Joke-writing workshop for kids (1-1:30 pm, Quiet Room)
Meet a variety of children’s authors, learn more about their books and enjoy some fun activities! Discover some great new books and meet plucky characters who overcome challenges, learn more about peers with autism, read tales in Italian and stories about cultural diversity. Take comfort in stories about the loss of a pet and other tough times - featured books range from inspirational to silly and many things in between! Featured Authors:
Mary-Lauri Bartola - Rowana's Perspective, the story of an unflappable little girl who sets out to achieve her goals as she learns about the world around her. Author will also sing selections from a children's musical she is writing based on Rowana's Perspective.
Diane Belinfanti - Meet author Diane Belinfanti and enjoy Counting on Friends, her counting tale about friendship for ages 3-6! Her other books include Harriet: Adventures of a Honeybee (ages 8-13), Don’t Drink from the Fountain: Middle School Poems, Adrians’s Odyssey (ages 8-13), and Walk with Me (ages 3-7).
Ethan T. Berlin - I Am Not a Dog Toy, a lighthearted look at how friendship is a two-way street. Ethan will also be teaching a joke-writing workshop at 1 pm on Saturday, November 15, for children ages 6-13 (RSVP: https://bccls.libcal.com/event/15627686). He is a comedy teacher at Stony Brook University and the author of other entertaining children's books including The Hugely Wugely Spider, How to Draw a Brave Chicken, and Hey, You Are Not the Easter Bunny!
Melissa Brady-Petrillo -Sometimes, told from the perspective of a child with autism with the aim to help peers better understand this mindset. Melissa is a New Jersey educator and author with a passion for promoting empathy and inclusivity in her classroom.
Lauren Defilippo -Dance with Me, Please reminds children to "take a break and dance" as they tackle different challenges and learning experiences. Lauren, a licensed professional counselor, is the founder and owner of Be Well Psychotherapy in Caldwell.
Loretta Dremel -Made for Football After All , a real-life inspirational story about a boy determined to play football despite the discouraging messages he receives from different people.
Steve Garfinkel - Go Groundhogs! Go!, Attack of the Space Squirrels, and Willie the Shih Tzu Saurus, comical animal stories. Steve will also sing and play guitar during the fair as well as sell homemade cookies.
Brandi Kaye - This beloved kids' entertainer and leader of Explorers Playgroup is a regular featured guest at our musical story times for children and is now also a children's author! She is excited to share her new book at the fair.
Nadia Khan - Winner of the prestigious Mom's Choice Award, Readers Favorite Book Award, and Literary Titan Book Award, Nadia is the author of Zoey Wonders Why: A Sweet Story about Cultural Diversity, and Zoey Wonders Why: Supplemental Resource Guide, designed to take children on a cultural discovery journey. Her latest book is The Great Catastrophe, a chapter book about 10-year-old Zoey trying to deal with toxic friendships, an unexpected family crisis, and the power feelings that ensue.
Elizabeth Leonard - Meet Elizabeth Leonard, author of the Frizzy Lizzy series, heartwarming adventures filled with family, friends, and a sprinkle of magic! Targeted at children aged 4-8, Frizzy Lizzy teaches valuable life lessons about preparation, trusting one's instincts, and learning from challenges.
Irene Maslowski - Judah's Promise, a touching story about the loss of a beloved pet.
Lindsey McDevitt - Brooke’s BAHA, the story of a brave little girl, Brooke, introducing her new classmates to her BAHA (bone anchored hearing aid). Through Brooke’s narration, she leaves her class familiar with her hearing loss and all that her BAHA can do! While she may wear a BAHA, Brooke shows her class that she’s not very different at all.
Stephanie Pittaro - Discover a heartwarming rhyming picture book about Bruno, a mischievous dog who secretly follows his brother Chris to school, showing that love never leaves you, no matter the distance. Ideal for ages 4-8.
Theresa Quinn-DelVecchio - Author Theresa Del Vecchio will share her newest book, Chippy the Grateful Squirrel, and accompanying activity for children at our Author & Book Fair for kids! Her other books include Cotton Candy Skies & French Fries, Ice Cream Treats & Baseball Cleats, Ella’s Wonderfully Wild Hair, Pancakes with Pop Pop & more!
Eleonora Romaniello -Discover some delightful bilingual children's books in English and Italian by Eleonora Romaniello - Tippi's Pond (Lo Stagno di Tippi), a story highlighting the value of friendship and generosity, and Flight Lessons (Lezioni di Volo), which follows the journey of a robin's family as a way to encourage kids to embrace new experiences and spread their wings.
