Painting Demonstration, Sustainable Jersey Introduction And More

The West Essex Art Association will hold its monthly meeting Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Crane's Mill Town Square, 459 Passaic Ave. in West Caldwell. 

This month's meeting will feature a demonstration by noted artist Stephanie Deshpande. In this painting demo, she will explain the process of starting a still life beginning with the underpainting, building up the colors, and finalizing the image. Oil painting techniques will be discussed as well as the differences between alla prima and indirect painting methods.

The meeting and demonstration is free and open to all artists and interested parties. Coffee and networking will begin at 7:30 p.m. and the program will start at 8 p.m. sharp. For further information, contact Constance Seugling at 973-239-5005.

The Gateway Group of NJ Sierra Club will present Sustainable Jersey by Gray Russell from 7-9 p.m. in the Verona Park Boathouse, located off Bloomfield Avenue on Porcello Lane.

Russell is Montclair sustainability officer and has led the township through two cycles of certification and was part of the team that created Sustainable Jersey. Come see what a difference you can make in your town!
