$500K Powerball Lottery Win In Essex County; Other Big Wins Reported (See The List)

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Essex County has seen several big lottery wins in the past week, including a $500,000 winner for last weekend’s Powerball drawing, officials say.

According to the New Jersey Lottery, the ticket was sold for Saturday’s Powerball drawing. The specific town or store wasn’t available.

A lottery spokesperson told Patch that the winner lives in Essex County and used the Jackpocket app, a third-party licensed company that is allowed to sell draw-game tickets direct to consumers online.

The winning numbers were 04, 05, 28, 52, and 69. The Power Ball was 20, and the multiplier was 03. Eight New Jersey Lottery players matched four white balls and the Power Ball to each win $50,000.

The $500,000 ticket matched five white balls in the Double Play drawing, which is a separate event for players who opted in for the Double Play feature. The top prize is $10 million. The Double Play drawing’s numbers were 05, 08, 19, 23 and 43; the Double Play ball was 06. Two other New Jersey Lottery players matched four white balls and the Double Play ball to each win $50,000.

No player in the multi-state game won the jackpot, which is now $1.6 billion heading into the Monday night drawing: the fourth-highest in game history. The cash value of the prize is about $735.3 million.

OTHER LOTTERY WINNERS

There have also been other winners in Essex County for draw and scratch-off games between Dec. 15 and Dec. 21, New Jersey Lottery officials said (see chart below).

• Dec. 18 ($20,000) – Crossword, Maple Liquors in East Orange
• Dec. 19 ($150,000) – Wild Card Poker, Quality Liquor in Newark
