Two Homes Evacuated Friday Due to Gas Leak
The electric and gas company PSE&G repaired the ruptured gas line by 11:30 a.m., police said.

A gas line was ruptured early Friday morning on Fairmount Road, evacuating two homes, according to West Caldwell Police.
A contractor working at 11 Fairmount Road around 9:30 a.m. Friday reportedly struck an above-ground gas line which released natural gas into the home and neighborhood, West Caldwell Police Capt. Gerard Paris said.
West Caldwell and Caldwell police and fire departments responded to the Fairmount Road home, located near Memorial Park and the Board of Education building at Harrison School. Police evacuated the home and a neighboring home as a precautionary measure, said Paris.
